Snagging

A new home is an individual built, handcrafted product. For this reason there will inevitably be some variation in the finished appearance of different elements of the construction. It is for this reason combined with the reduction in the number of qualified tradesmen, due to lack of apprenticeships that snagging becomes and important and integral part of the house buying process.

Snagging is the production of a list, recording and identifying areas of poor quality.   .

Back-snagging is the term used for checking that the defects have been successfully rectified.

New homes have become notorious for snags, with astute new home buyers employing the services of an industry qualified expert to snag their new home and not assume the developer has done this thoroughly. A good snagging company will be able to find more faults enabling the developer to rectify the faults prior to legal completion.
